WHEN LOVING PEOPLE HURTS..

Do you ever look back on your life and realize how wrong you were, but at that point in time you felt so right? I’ve had a few of these Ah-ha moments lately and my heart breaks. It breaks for all the relationships I walked away from, when I should have fought for them. It breaks for all the times I said hurtful words or did hurtful things for the sake of being “right”, when I really should have been looking at my own attitude.
And it sucks.

Because, when you say toxic words and do hurtful things, they can never be taken back. They might be forgiven, but you can never take them back. Life is so short, I should know this, the number of people close to me that I’ve lost is much too long and I know life is short. Let me tell you something. It hurts to love. It hurts so much. Opening up and loving people hurts. Not only for all the disagreements you’ll endure and work through. But if you’re able to find someone and love them hard for so long, you might have to watch them lose themselves, make bad choices, get sick or even die, and it hurts. Loving people hurts. But its also beautiful and wonderful and you live so much life when you have good people around you. Loving people is what we are supposed to do. Loving people and going through hard things together is what makes us better. Relationships hurt and I’ve wasted too much time of my life thinking that walking away and alienating people would protect me from getting hurt. Its the exact opposite, in fact. So find your tribe, love them hard, love them forever, go through the hard stuff and love them even more. Because they are worth it and so are you.
